On September 16, Mayor Olivia Chow announced the start of construction of 57 affordable rental homes and 256 long-term care homes, creating one, dual-purpose building on City-owned land at 640 Lansdowne Avenue in Toronto’s Little Portugal community.
The site at 640 Lansdowne Avenue will include a seven-storey mixed-use building that will include 256 long-term care beds, 57 affordable rental homes for seniors and non-residential space on the ground floor.
CreateTO led the conceptual master plan for the site, issued a Request for Proposals for a developer and operator of affordable housing services and participated in the lease negotiations with Magellan Community Charities, the successful proponent.
