CreateTO is pleased to announce that Toronto City Council has appointed Vic Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective November 22, 2021.

As CEO of the City’s real estate agency, Gupta will report to the Board of Directors of CreateTO and will be accountable for creating and executing a vision, strategy, and business plan consistent with the purpose of CreateTO and aligned with the policy direction of Toronto City Council.

He will also be responsible for developing and leading a service-driven culture that is focused on city-building, enabling City program solutions, and ensuring cost-effective program delivery, in addition to managing the stewardship of the City’s real estate assets and optimizing the portfolio.

Gupta, an entrepreneur with extensive experience in the public and private sectors, joined CreateTO as Senior Vice President, Strategic Development in 2019 and currently holds the position of Executive Vice President, Strategic Development.

As a member of the Executive Management Team, he has been responsible for setting the strategic direction of the agency, leading a multi-disciplinary team that collaborates with partners and stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage the City’s real estate assets to deliver economic and community benefits, and managing the Port Lands group. Gupta was also one of the founding members and the executive sponsor of CreateTO's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Gupta was selected for the position following an extensive recruitment process. A CEO Selection Committee was established by the CreateTO Board of Directors in October 2019 and Phelps, an executive search firm, was retained through a competitive RFP to assist with the search.
