Brian Johnston, CEO of CreateTO, will be stepping down from his position on October 16. “It has been my distinct pleasure to help launch this new organization on behalf of the people of Toronto,” said Mr. Johnston. “CreateTO is an incredibly innovative and creative agency, finding the right real estate solutions to further the City’s key priorities, such as affordable housing or modernizing its complex portfolio of workplaces across Toronto. I want to thank my colleagues – the women and men – of CreateTO for their support, dedication and professionalism.”

"The board of directors of CreateTO thanks Brian for his public service to the people of Toronto through his leadership at CreateTO," said Vice-Chair Ron Carinci. "Under his leadership, CreateTO has successfully embarked on Housing Now, the City’s unprecedented affordable housing project, as well as other key city building initiatives, such as Rail Deck Park and the redevelopment of the Etobicoke Civic Centre."

At its regularly scheduled October 9 meeting, the board will name an acting CEO and initiate the search for its new, permanent CEO.

CreateTO was formed in 2018 as the City of Toronto’s new real estate agency. The organization brings together stakeholders, partners and community members to ensure the best use of the City’s real estate assets for today and tomorrow. CreateTO manages the City’s $27 billion real estate portfolio, develops City buildings and lands for municipal purposes and delivers client-focused real estate solutions – ensuring a balance of both community and economic benefits.
