Project Overview
277 Victoria Street is one of eight high-value City-owned sites selected through the ModernTO program for city-building purposes. ModernTO is designed to modernize the City’s office portfolio, reduce the City’s office footprint, and free up underutilized properties for city-building purposes.
In spring 2023, CreateTO on behalf of the City of Toronto finalized an agreement to sell the City-owned property at 277 Victoria Street, as well as 38 Dundas Street East to Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). This sale will generate funding that can be directed to the City’s city-building priorities, like new affordable housing, while also benefiting TMU and its long-term growth plans.
Selling this City-owned property and accelerating the relocation of the existing occupants, while ensuring minimal disruption to Toronto Public Health service delivery, will serve as a catalyst to revitalize the area surrounding Yonge-Dundas Square and make it more liveable for residents, including improvements to traffic flow and pedestrian and cycling mobility in line with the yongeTOmorrow plan.
277 Victoria Street currently houses the head office for Toronto Public Health (TPH) and is home to The Works.
