Housing Now Phase 3 Sites Approved at City Council

At its meeting in November 2021, City Council approved the third phase of Housing Now, expanding the initiative to include four new sites in addition to the 17 sites identified in Phases One and Two of the program.

Housing Now is an initiative to activate City-owned sites for the development of affordable housing within mixed-income, mixed-use, transit-oriented communities. Phase Three of the initiative will create between 1,150 to 1,400 new homes, including between 450 and 600 affordable rental homes. The sites are close to transit, and will contribute to complete communities, through the delivery of amenities such as child care spaces, community spaces, expansions to public parks, employment opportunities, enhanced landscape, design, or heritage preservation, and commuter parking.

The four new sites include the following:

– 40 Bushby Drive

– Block R6, Bayside

– 2700 Eglinton Avenue West

– 4040 Lawrence Avenue East
